hey, where do you get these lights from, is there like a dedecated website you use for vintage lighting? I'm currently fitting out a rollerskating rink and the whole thing is 80s themed so i would like to use old fixtures like these to keep that old feel of it
These lights are extremely rare to find for sale. Occasionally something will pop up online but that does not happen often

I didn’t realise how much I prefer these to a Monster Moon until seeing this.
I started collecting vintage lighting over the past little while as people retire and unload their gear. I saw a magic moon in pretty good shape on ebay selling for something stupid like 30 dollars. I couldn’t justify buying it but I added it to my watch list incase I could convince myself otherwise. I know some lighting nerd is out there somewhere really happy playing with it.

@@DisneyMarkUK yeah they’re Chauvet intimidator 2.0. They’re pretty old. I bought them NIB at closeout when they were already old. I loved them. The stand alone master/slave programming is so so good. It has some sort of randomizer in the programming so you’re not just watching the same few sequences repeat. I got them when I was 19-20. I learned a lot with them. They were probably my first big-boy purchase. I’ve since retired them but I still have them. I have quite a sizable collection now and I’ve recently been adding to it. Nows the moment in time (and last, practically) to find and purchase your fav vintage lights. I’m 38. This is really the last generation of quality vintage lights. I’m second generation vintage shopper. When I first started I was too young and couldn’t afford much. People 10-20 years older than me got first pass. Now all those people are getting old and retiring and lots of things are hitting the marketplace. I’ve enjoyed the hunt.

Neighbors of mine 8512 Meadowlark Lane in Bethesda Md had one. They bought it new at the time my father bought a 70 Chrysler Town and Country 440, in white with a black interior and power everything including rear air. I begged him to buy one of these also to go with it in the driveway. I thought he was made of money.

Hi, with some hardware modifications, you could also use a 1200 HMI lamp. But then you need a different ballast and an adapted lamp socket (to keep the same lamp position). Conversion to DMX is not possible with this version...

i had such an obsession with these lights as a kid. I still have some lights which have 2x300watt=600watt lights inside. If you turn it on, 30seconds later you can cook an egg on it. They still work after many years though. And all of these lights use colored lenses, because lights that can change color, or led, didnt exist at the time. Funny how now a days you can buy the same type of lights using led for a fraction of the price through aliexpres or something which are just as bright but use 0.1% the power
